POB Students Advance Independence Through Let Grow Activities

Throughout October, Plainview-Old Bethpage elementary school students continued building on the independence skills they developed in September through the Let Grow program, with the theme “Spreading Your Wings.” Students expanded on previous activities by repeating tasks independently or trying new challenges, such as preparing breakfast, folding laundry, making their beds or walking to a friend’s house.

On Oct. 28, Pasadena students shared their accomplishments with their classmates and added new paper leaves to the growing Let Grow tree. Board trustee Mrs. Bernstein and Superintendent of Schools, Dr. O’Meara visited Pasadena and saw firsthand the students’ increasing sense of independence and self-direction.

The District is proud of elementary students for embracing these challenges and looks forward to continued growth in the months ahead.
