Pasadena Students Dig Into Dinosaur Discovery

Pasadena students recently enjoyed an exciting Dinos Rock experience where they dove into the world of dinosaurs, fossils and paleontology through a hands-on, interactive program.

During the presentation, students learned about how fossils are formed, the differences between real fossils and cast replicas, and the various types of dinosaur eggs that have been discovered. They also explored the traits of different dinosaur species, helping them understand what made each one unique.

The lesson included a discussion about the work of a paleontologist and how scientists determine whether a dinosaur was a carnivore or herbivore based on its physical features. Students even had the chance to help build a life-size dinosaur leg, getting an up-close look at the size and structure of prehistoric creatures.

To end the experience, students stepped into the role of junior paleontologists by digging for fossils in sandboxes, uncovering hidden “artifacts” just like real scientists. The day was filled with discovery, excitement and a deeper appreciation for the ancient world of dinosaurs. Thank you to the PTA Arts in Ed committee for sponsoring this engaging assembly.
